Mixed Media Place.........Emotions #5

This months "Emotional Challenge" at Mixed Media Place is JEALOUSY.

I love these challenges ! They really make you think hard; not just about the emotion, its definition and effects, but how to creatively portray the emotion. I find this a really exciting and challenging process that goes beyond traditional scrapbooking and is, what I would consider, "expressive art". This of course could be debated, but that's for another day. Check out the amazing work done by the DT HERE at Mixed Media Place, and the many different interpretations of this emotion.
For me, if someone is, sadly, consumed by jealousy, seriously wanting what another has, I see them as loosing the joy in their life, loosing all gratitude for what they have and becoming a grey and colourless person, growing a very black heart.
Of course I have chosen the female form, using a Balzar Designs stencil, as girls are always jealous of other girls....how pretty they are, their clothes, how popular etc.
I've used mixed media, inks, stamps and hand drawn images and traditional scrapbooking techniques like die cuts, layering and embellishments.
All colour work has been done using Distress Inks.

The 'dark side"

At Mixed Media Place we would love to see, not just how you create, but how you think as well.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit today. Wishing you a fabulous creative weekend.

Mixed Media Place......"Slow Down Tags"

This month at Mixed Media Place I made some tags, and an envelope to keep them in, to remind me to "slow down".
This was such an enjoyable and almost therapeutic exercise. I only intended to make one tag but once I started I couldn't stop, so ended up with four, and an envelope as well.
Plain manilla envelopes,  7 Dots patterned paper from the Domestic Goddess range and Nature Walk, texture paste, stamps, inks, Ecoline Water Colours, beautiful Silks Acrylic Glazes, Distress Stains, and metal embellishments, all from Mixed Media Place.

Thanks for dropping by today, you know what my message is going to be, just take it easy.

"Thorns and Roses "............paperDVIZHNIK Challenge #39

The new challenge at paperDVIZHNIK this month is ........flowers + punk /grunge. Does it get any better than that !!! My 2 favourite things ! All the details are HERE. Play along and go a little wild.

Combination of water colour and paper serviettes.

To paint the face I've used a combination of Caran D'Ache Supracolor Soft water soluble colour pencils, Ecoline water Colour and Distress Stains

Some "grungy" details. Texture paste used through chicken wire stencil then reverse chicken wire stencil where I've coloured the texture paste with India Ink. There is probably a cheaper way to colour the texture paste using acrylic paint, but I wanted it to be very, very black and the ink worked perfectly.

This chipboard cross was gessoed white then sprinkled with "Stampendous Aged Copper Embossing Enamel". It is so beautiful and easy to use and quite different from their "Shabby" range of embossing enamels. You all probably already knew that, but it was the very creative  Louise Nelson who gave me  the heads up on this great product + a little personal demo x.
Thank you for dropping by. Hope the week ahead is full of creative surprises.

Scrap Around The World..........April : Challenge #12

Hello ! It has been such a long time since I posted.....sometimes life gets busy.
A sad post for me today as it is my last one for Scrap Around The World. Twelve months ago Helen shared her secret of 'a new challenge blog' and asked if I would like to be part of the team.....
"hell yes !!!!"
and I have loved every minute of it ! Creating my own mood board and working with other amazing and inspirational mood boards over the 12 months has been challenging and very rewarding and satisfying.
Thanks for having me Helen xx and thanks to all the other lovely, clever and inspiring girls that make up the team.
It has been very exciting to watch Scrap Around The World grow. Each month more people are inspired to play along and have a go; commenting of course takes so much longer and choosing personal favourites becomes harder, but it is a pleasure and a joy to observe all the amazing creative talent out there in the world.
This months beautiful mood board comes from Riikka Kovasin and can be both simple or complex.

Pretty obvious what I have used from this beautiful mood board.

Got a bit hooked on a paisley theme this month....not really sure where that came from, except that I love it.

These are the fantastic prizes being given away this month by our very king and generous sponsors.
